11.7.3.1 General information

1.1 France is an E.U. (European Union) Member State. See the E.U. Section.

The following information concerns specific requirements for France and St-Pierre and Miquelon.

1.2 St-Pierre and Miquelon is a French overseas territory to which not all the E.U. requirements automatically apply.

Meat products meeting Canadian requirements can be exported. Meat products must be certified using form CFIA/ACIA 1454.

11.7.3.2 Import prohibitions or restrictions

Specified risk materials

Animal products destined for France must not contain certain animal products of ruminant origin and must be certified accordingly (see Annexes A and B for details). The requirement applies and the certification must be issued for the following products: fresh meat derived from bovine, ovine and caprine, minced meat and preparations, meat products and other products derived from animals (meat extracts, greaves and meat powder), milk products for human consumption containing gelatin or tallow, fishery products for human consumption containing gelatin or tallow, egg products for human consumption containing gelatin or tallow, snails or frog's legs for human consumption containing gelatin or tallow, rendered animal fat, gelatin for human consumption, bones and bone products for human consumption and mechanically separated meats and other processed animal proteins containing gelatin or tallow and the products not intended for human consumption.

11.7.3.3 Specific or additional inspection procedures

11.7.3.4 Additional certification

All certification must be issued in the French language.

  1. Products containing material derived from bovine, ovine or caprine: complete Annex A for those products included in note 1 appearing on the certificate.
  2. Products not intended for human consumption: complete Annex B.
