OTTAWA, September 10, 2009 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to milk not to consume the Appleton Chocolates dark chocolate truffles described below. The affected products contain milk which is not declared on the label.
The affected products, Appleton Chocolates Maple & Wild Blueberry Truffles dipped in Belgian dark chocolate and Maple Cream Truffles dipped in French dark chocolate, are sold in 3-packs (56 g) with no UPC or lot codes.
These products have been distributed in Nova Scotia and may have been sold from the company's website.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.
Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk.
CFIA is working with the manufacturer to have the affected products removed from the marketplace.
