Evelyne Vachon: A Natural Fit
For Dr. Evelyne Vachon, becoming a veterinarian was a natural transition from her life growing up on a farm. "My dad tried very hard to make sure I was doing the right thing. He'd get me up in the middle of the night to deal with the animals, but I didn't mind, I always loved it."
After finishing school in Quebec, Evelyne moved to Nova Scotia, where she eventually started working for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Three years ago, she landed her dream job as an animal health veterinarian. Now, whether she's working on a disease investigation, providing certificates and certifications for animal exports, or tracking a quarantine, Evelyne is in her element.
"You just don't know what the day is going to bring. It's very demanding but it's extremely stimulating. You can't ask for more than that!"
